An extension explaining Chrome's features to first-time users.
WHAT IT IS
Google approached us with the task of exploring how they could retain a higher percentage of first-time Chrome users.
The scope of this project was to consider the array of possible solutions/implementations of the "first-run" experience in Chrome that could be accomplished via a “retention extension”: a plug-in that would recognize certain user behaviour and perform "interventions" to enhance the user's experience.
Led by Sarah Nahm and designed together with Andreas Brændhaugen, we came up with various functional prototypes to demonstrate what could be possible with an extension platform. Our final proposal took the form of a small drop-down bar that would explain in an unintrusive way to the user through an animated sequence how to get more out of his or her experience with Chrome.
