WHAT IT IS

The Emily Carr Students' Union advocates for students’ rights and provides the student community with resources on a co-operative basis, advancing the interests of the student body by addressing educational, administrative or legislative change.

THE CHALLENGE

With the expansion of the university, the union needed to update its communication strategy and visual profile in order to stay visible and connected to its constituency. I provided Emily Carr Students' Union with a new brand platform, strategy and website.

MY ROLE

Together with the executive director, Lori Macdonald and the union board, I developed a new brand for the union. Based on the notion of bringing the union into the 21st century, I wanted to portray the union less as an angry reactionary , and more as an energetic hub where students can connect, find useful information and that it isn’t afraid to take a stand. I decided to use the tree as the symbol of bringing energy from the grassroots to the top.
