WHAT IT IS
PeriopSim is an iPad simulation app for clinicians who need to learn about new surgical instruments and techniques. It enables perioperative nurses and other surgical staff to practice unfamiliar surgical procedures, outside of clinical time. Unlike many simulation solutions, it does not require any dedicated space and is simple to deploy and scale.
Perioperative nurses and other clinicians need to recognize and select the right surgical instrument quickly in the Operating Room (OR). New students have to learn a daunting array of tools and procedures. Experienced clinicians will sometimes need to scrub into procedures they are not familiar with.
As the sole UX and UI designer on the team it was my job to construct user personas, user narratives, wireframes. Based on user research sessions with nurses, I then incrementally improved on the wireframes, the flow and the UI.
